Pioneer in blended training

Strong social video results since 2010

Success Story German Table Tennis Association (DTTB)

With over 506,000 members and approximately 10,500 licensed coaches, the DTTB is the twelfth largest elite sports association in the German sports landscape. In international comparison, the DTTB is one of the largest members of the European Table Tennis Union (ETTU).

Find out how the DTTB gained its first experience with blended learning formats back in 2008, has been offering A, B, and C license training in this didactically valuable format ever since, and continues to benefit from the hybrid teaching and learning approach on the edubreak®CAMPUS today.

Daniel Ringleb, Education and Research Officer at the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB), about blended learning with edubreak®

The German Table Tennis Association recognized the potential of blended learning for its coaches’ training and continuing education formats early on and has been using edubreak®CAMPUS for its licensing courses since 2010.

In this interview, Daniel Ringleb reveals why the DTTB relies on edubreak® and what goals the association would like to pursue in the future with regard to social video learning.

More flexibility and quality in education

The challenge

  • Requirement for greater flexibility and quality in training due to declining membership numbers and unsatisfactory exam results among coaches
  • Keeping the focus on practical play and personal contact in coach training
  • Support throughout the entire change process of restructuring training in the national association and in 16 regional associations of the DTTB by Ghostthinker

The solution

  • 2015: Development of tailor-made blended learning concepts for A, B, and C license training courses with a focus on video reflection by Ghostthinker
  • Development of additional “train-the-trainer” measures, e.g., on the topic of “feedback” for the further training of already certified coaches
  • Development of concepts for e-portfolio work, video assessments, and cross-border collaboration in a task community
  • New national and international standards across the industry for training and continuing education in table tennis
